Understanding and Managing Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It occurs when fat accumulates in the liver, leading to inflammation and damage. Although, it shares similarities with alcoholic liver disease, NAFLD is not caused by excessive alcohol consumption. NAFLD is a silent disease that often goes undiagnosed until it progresses to a more severe form called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). NASH can cause liver scarring (fibrosis), cirrhosis, and even liver failure. Therefore, it is essential to understand the risk factors, symptoms, and treatment options for NAFLD.
